When planting along bulkheads or sea walls, elevations are below levels necessary for natural mangrove regeneration. The confined volume of the encasement device permits the establishment of the proper elevation for successful mangrove planting in residential canals.
The integrated device enables "REM Adaptation", which is an induced change in morphology or structure that habituates the mangrove to a non-native environment or aberrant hydrology establishing reproductively mature trees where natural regeneration cannot occur and conventional planting methods are ineffective.
